Planning: what to make and what to buy

Requirements from open orders and reorder levels.

Steps

  1. Go to Operations → Production → Planning.
  2. Make lists what to produce, in whole batches, by the date it is needed and why (the sales orders, or a reorder level).
  3. Buy lists the materials to buy - exploded through your bills of materials, after stock, production in progress and purchase orders on the way.
  4. Tick what to make and click Create production orders; tick what to buy and click Raise a requisition (one supplier at a time is simplest).

Good to know

  • A material that is itself made from a BOM is planned to be made, and its own materials to be bought.
  • Orders created from the plan carry their due date and the sales order they make for.
